I have been concerned for sometime about my children spending their formidable years in the big city here in Boston. Yes, you southerners know my concern. They will grow up here, get some learnin', and get themselves all citified. Well, fortunately with a few days at Grandma and Grandpa's house in Florida, I think we were able to undo most of the damage thus far.
We kicked it off with some good ol' tree climbin' with the cousins.
Then some playin' in the rain.
Then some 4-wheeler ridin' at Auntee Amy's house.
Then some squirrel holdin'
And of course some good ol' gator wranglin'. Some neighbors found this baby gator in their yard, so they called my younger brother, Blake, to go get it for them. We taped its mouth shut, so we could take some pictures before he got released somewhere safe (for all of you yankees, yes, duct tape will securely hold a gator's mouth shut, even a big gator).
I didn't have my camera handy when we swam in the lake, chased down a great white heron in the john boat, swung on the bag swing in the oak tree, fed the fish in the lake, or cheered at the football game.
It made me a little sad to bring Lila back up here to the city, but I guess even one week at the Russ house in Florida is more adventure than most kids get all year.
Love it. I don't think I could stomach half of it, let alone watch Sam play with a baby gator...
ReplyDeleteYou're tougher than I am. :)
I wonder how all of this excitement makes Emily feel... I think it's great. I heard about her cheering at the football game. Sounds like we missed a lot of fun things and that Lila had a good time in Florida. Good to hear that. -Tami
ReplyDeleteHey can we stop by Grandma and Grandpa Russ' house when we are in Florida next time? Man my kid needs to get uncitified. Looks like you two had a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Emily. Did you DIE when you saw that picture of Lila holding the alligator??
ReplyDeleteJohnny: I don't think you have to worry. Definately UNcitified. :) And I loved that every description ended with one of these: '
ok the picture with the gator is worth a million bucks. people out here (west) freak when you say anything about gators. i loved the one of her holding it and her face is so cute.
ReplyDeleteLila has something on her arm, for a minute I thought Johnny gave her a tattoo to "uncitify" her.... turns out it's just a bandaid.
ReplyDeleteVery cute pictures, Lila is a lucky girl.
I think you're safely uncitified if your 2 year old (girl) will happily hold an alligator and smile for the camera. What fun! I live in the boondocks but nothing nearly that exciting happens around here. What a fun trip!
ReplyDeletethats looks like every kids dream place! how fun is that!
